| A collection of Sumerian spells, Mesopotamian mysticism and its cosmic connection, Near Eastern occult and a Kabalistic track, Melechesh offers their fourth album ‘Emissaries’ Sumerian Thrashing Black Metal, this album presents Melechesh at their finest and introduces their new drummer Xul (who has already been performing with them since 2004). ‘Emissaries’ is considered the band’s top offering to date by those around them. Not only musically but lyrically, this is the deepest album to date, one of the tracks contains a text which is around 5000 years old! They used specially transcribed Akkadian and Sumerian lines, occult lyrics as well as a personal song of Ashmedi’s relationship to and perception of the mystical side of his home town Jerusalem. Recorded at Woodhouse Studios in Germany Cover art by talented artist John Coulthart |

| As
we received the contract for the 7"EP, Akhenaten of SARCOPHAGUS and
Moloch (guitars) were tape trading the releases of their bands, Akhenaten
also running BREATH OF NIGHT Recs, was impressed by the demo, which he wanted
to re-release on C.D. We thought better: releasing a demo on C.D, but re-recording
it would be better, and as we were working on newer material, we thought
to ourselves why not just record an album. Thus the album has the five songs
of the demo, which we improved and re-recorded, we added some 4 newer tracks,
and the whole was complete in winter '96. The C.D. being the first release
(on C.D.) for BREATH OF NIGHT Recs, Akhenaten thought it would be better
to work with PULVERIZER Recs. (that released the SARCOPHAGUS CDs), and together
they co-released the "As Jerusalem Burns.Al'Intisar" ("Al'Intisar" meaning " the victory" in Arabic). Unfortunately the C.D was promoted well, there was no repressing and the album didn't circulate much. |

| The title track existed under a different form before the demo tracks, it finally took the form of what we thought by Mesopotamian Black Metal: incorporating oriental based riffs on oriental rhythms played by the drums in a black metal osverall. The same track was inspired by a text (that can be found in the "ORDER OF MESOPOTAMIA") written by the Assyrian King Sennacherib as he witnessed his army invade the city of Lachish (about an hour and a half from Jerusalem). The site is nothing but ruins now, but with the text; it inspired this warlike song, principal track of the EP. The side B track "Malek Al Nar" (meaning king of fire in Arabic) is a fast and traditional black metal track. The 7"EP was released by DEVILISH MUSIC PROPAGANDA in Germany and limited to 666 copies, that are now sold out. | ||||
