Sumerian Thrashing Black Metal Pioneers are now seeking to audition a new bass player to join the band as an active member

The band is looking for a serious and reliable bass player, who can positively contribute to the band. This person should be prepared for future touring and recordings with Melechesh and is able to do backing vocals on stage. 

Commented founding member Ashmedi “Interest in the Melechesh themes is paramount and the candidate must understand our mindset in striving to define an own style in extreme metal both on a musical and a spiritual level”  

 “Since 2006 Al’Hazred has not been an active member in the band and hasn’t been playing live with the band since 2004. We would like to thank him for the years he was contributing with Melechesh and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. We recruited session bass player Kawn who is still to this date our live bass player and will continue to be until we find a permanent member, so this does not affect our scheduled future live appearances”

After founding the band in Jerusalem back in 1993 the band managed to become the first metal outfit out of the middle east to draw mass attention from all over the world. As for Legacy Festival in Belgrade, to our surprise it was announced that WE pulled out of the festival, which we haven’t. But the booker had some sort of a master plan ‘two birds one stone' kind of thing that backfired. So unfortunately we won’t play in Serbia in the foreseeable future. We apologize to our fans there but this was beyond our control. If anything changes you will know about it.

Sumerian thrashing black metallers MELECHESH have issued the following statement:

Melechesh was also interviewed by Sam Dunn for the upcoming "Global Metal" film which is the follow up for "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" documentary co-directed by Scot Mcfadyen and Sam Dunn. The Melechesh performance at the Opera House show in Toronto was also filmed for the purpose of this movie.

OSMOSE USA/THE END RECORDS have tentatively set the release date of January 23rd, 2007 for new album from Mesopotamian metallers MELECHESH (‘Emissaries’). As previously announced the European Date is set for 30 October 2006.

‘Emissaries,’ the fourth album from MELECHESH, is the much-anticipated follow-up to 2003’s brilliant opus ‘Sphynx.’ Easily the band’s top album to date, and debut for new drummer Xul, ‘Emissaries’ is a collection of Sumerian spells, Mesopotamian mysticism and its cosmic connection.

The album also features a cover of the song ‘Gyroscope’ by world-renowned Canadian band The Tea Party. The Tea Party gave the band full permission to cover the song and the liberty to change it if they wanted to – which the band did, adding their own creative touch

The Inventors of Mesopotamian Thrashing Black Metal - Melechesh will enter
Woodhouse Studios (Samael, Grip Inc, Therion, Moonspell etc.) in Hagen,
Germany to record their Fourth full length album in January 2006. The Mixing
will take place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands with renowned producer Attie
Bauw (a.o. Judas priest, Halford, Scorpions, Fight .). The tracking will
take 3 weeks and mixing circa 2 weeks.

'EMISSARIES' is the chosen album name and some track titles are:

'Emissaries' will include approximately 10-11 tracks that will clearly carry
the Melechesh flag thematically and musically. When asked on the subject
matter Ashmedi stated "The album will encompass what Melechesh have always stood for: Sumerian/Mesopotamian and other dark Near Eastern mythos and mysticism including the cosmic connection and the Occult. Musically the songs will have the Melechesh characteristic sound with a variation and evolution just like we have done for every album; I am now busy with the pre production and demoing the last couple of songs , however, I prefer letting the music speak for itself".
'Emissaries' is tentatively scheduled for a release circa April/May 2006
through Osmose Productions for Europe and the rest of the world(s), in North America the release will be through Osmose Productions /The End Records.

The Mesopotamian thrashing black metal act Melechesh have just publicized their new drummer . Quoting founding member Ashmedi: ”we are very glad to announce the addition of Xul to the Melechesh Djinn union; Xul is a tremendously talented drummer with outstanding technical ability”. Melechesh has been working on new material with Xul for the last year, prior to this he performed with the band at various gigs and festivals which where he proved his drumming capabilities by offering flawless and exceptional performances.
On this XUL commented: “I am honored to finally be part of this cult. Playing with Melechesh is an enriching experience both on a musical and on an ideological level”.

Proscriptor and Melechesh will not be working together on recording the upcoming Melechesh album. This was a mutual decision that had to be taken due to the geographic circumstances and overlapping time schedules.

Proscriptor has been a member of Melechesh since 1999 and has recorded two albums with them: Djinn and Sphynx. Both the Melechesh members and Proscriptor had to take this decision; however, this does not affect their comradeship and possibilities for future cooperation.

“We have nothing but high regards for Proscriptor. He is one of the very few true artists that I know of, a dear friend and we appreciate his talent. But this cross Atlantic distance was becoming quite impractical and limited the creative inputs of both of us. I feel confident that we will cooperate musically again in one way or another, but it was simply impossible to do so for the upcoming Melechesh album. Should time permit though, Proscriptor may provide guest vocals on the upcoming (4th) Melechesh album. One thing is for sure: he certainly deserves the medal of honor” Quoted Melechesh founder Ashmedi.
